The Artworks that Work Virtual School Program

The Artworks that Work Virtual School Program comes about as an answer to the age old problem of dwindling inter-cultural lessons amongst young students across the world. Another reason we created this experience is because of the need for young students to feel a part of a global citizenry through UBUNTU, inclusivity and diversity classes. Our 360 virtual reality format has proved to be a highly impactful medium for young people in terms of engaging them in learning through African cultural practices.

Our main aim will be to enlighten learners by virtually travelling certain places in Africa through UBUNTU – An ancient African philosophy and principle which bases its premise that one human exists, because of all humans. UBUNTU is our guiding light when it comes to teaching young people about the arts and cultures of Africa and how they relate to science, mathematics and technology of the world.

Our format will include 360 virtual reality stories of ‘can’t get to artists and innovators’ in places which are hard to get to even when on a physical tour. There will be a virtual guide that will lead the learners in a comprehensive and fun way through the program. Engaging 360 virtual video treasure hunts will be used by our facilitator to guide learners virtually through our first of its kind arts and STEM program. When including the Arts in a STEM program it turns the program to a STEAM program. SCIENCE – TECHNOLOGY – ENGINEERING – ARTS and MATHEMATICS.

Learners will also get a chance to take part in a virtual exchange with other learners from across Africa about their experiences with STEAM or learning through the arts about STEM.

This experience is excellent for middle schools, high schools and colleges as an alternative for travel intensives that have been postponed for whatever reason.
